One of the things we love most about Hale Kona Kai is its easy access to shops, restaurants and cultural activities. We are located directly on the Kailua-Kona coast, at the southern edge of Kona town. Our guests often ride the elevator down from our top-floor unit to take a quick stroll on Kahakai Road before options like fine dining at Huggoʻs or drinks and pupus at On the Rocks appear.
The lively Kona scene also caters to active folks who head down to the townʻs old pier for snorkeling or whale-watching excursions. King Kam beach offers a lovely, safe swimming area for adults and keiki (children), and history-lovers can also check out the Hulihee Palace and while in the area.
For fantastic entertainment, the Royal Kona (our next-door-neighbor) puts on the “Voyagers of the Pacific” luau multiple times during the week and tons of art galleries, clothing and jewelry stores in the area beckon at various price ranges. If you want to support one of HKKʻs own residents, you can even stop by Kona Gear to pick up some casual clothes and “slippahs” (sandals) for your day at the beach. Bike rentals are another non-motorized option for local exploration, and the Hele-On bus service is back in action for destinations further afield, and ride-sharing is back with the re-opening!
